Leading The Green Building Design Movement

When most people think of “going green,” they think of recycling containers for paper and plastic, using energy efficient appliances, and installing solar panels on their homes, with a goal of conserving energy, cutting energy costs and preserving the environment. Ghattas Enterprises believes commercial office space should be going green, too.

That’s why we’re the first and only developer in Hagerstown, MD to develop LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified, energy-saving green buildings within the City of Hagerstown. The Susquehanna Financial Center, developed by Ghattas Enterprises, is the first commercial building in the City of Hagerstown, MD to be Silver LEED-certified through the USGBC. Ghattas Enterprises is also pursuing silver LEED certification on our newest project, Fountainhead One, which is scheduled for completion in late 2012.

leedLEED-certified, high performance buildings are designed to:

  • Lower operating costs
  • Increase asset value
  • Reduce waste sent to landfills
  • Optimize energy efficiency and water efficiency
  • Improve health and safety standards for occupants
  • Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions
  • Qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances and other incentives in hundreds of cities

The financial, environmental and health benefits are obvious. We at Ghattas Enterprises believe green building design is just the right thing to do.
